Our monthly WISE events are usually at Aldeburgh library on Saturdays 4:00-5:30pm.  Occasionally, talks may be on Zoom or at different venues. So do keep an eye out.

Bernie will facilitate the discussion and set context by offering some ideas from her reading/experiences then open the rest up for discussion and insight from the group.

SATURDAY MAY 18th 4PM. MONICA ALLEN: Nobody left out of learning

For thousands of people in prisons, learning to read can completely transform their lives. Shannon Trust is a charity working in all prisons in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to train and inspire prisoners who can read to teach those who can’t.

Monica Allen is a volunteer administrator with Shannon Trust and will talk about how the charity helps to tackle the high levels of illiteracy in the UK’s prisons.

FUTURE DATES

Our meetings in 2024 will be at the library, generally on the third Saturday of the month but not during June through to August
